Most bankers won’t loan you or me money if we don’t have the collateral to back up the loan.  Evidently that doesn’t count if you are the governor of Georgia.  According to news reports the governor has a $21 Million personal note coming due March 1st.  The loan was taken out by Governor Perdue last year for his agricultural enterprises.  The company that made the loan admitted that the loan was given to the governor even though only 19% of the amount is secured.  Perdue, unlike most Georgia governors in recent history, did not place his business interests in a blind trust.  Since Perdue is not running for re-election, the details of the loan won’t have to be revealed to the public.
