Here is an update from the Georgia State Patrol on the Friday morning crash on Highway 27 at Taylor’s Ridge that snarled traffic for several hours:

Troopers were dispatched to a serious injury crash on GA 1 near Kirby Hollow Road involving a Dodge pickup and a single-axle logging truck. Vehicle 1, a Dodge, and Vehicle 2, a logging truck, were traveling SB on GA 1 (Highway 27) in the right lane. Vehicle 1 struck the rear of Vehicle 2 with its front. The impact caused several logs to travel through the cab of vehicle 1. Driver 1 was transported to Atrium-Floyd Hospital for NON-life-threatening injuries to his chest and head. MCCD arrived on the scene and conducted a vehicle inspection on vehicle 2. Vehicle 2 was placed out of service for mechanical issues, and driver 2 operated a CMV vehicle without a CDL License. Godfrey Tree Service was able to remove the logs from vehicle 2. Gills and Luallen’s wrecker service removed both vehicles. The SB lanes were shut down for 3 hours. Crash #C00090419
