An Elizabeth Street, Summerville woman reported the theft of a firearm and a neckless to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office on Friday of last week. 

According to a report released yesterday by the sheriff’s office, the complainant came into the sheriff’s office and told a deputy that someone had stolen a rare Smith & Wesson 73 Detective Special .38 caliber handgun that she kept under her mattress.  Also, the woman said that someone had taken a neckless valued at $600 from her residence.  The complainant identified a family member, who is also a convicted felon along with the family member’s boyfriend, who is also a convicted felon as possible suspects.

The complainant said that she had confronted the two, but that they had denied taking the gun and neckless.

The incident was turned over to an investigator and the gun was logged as stolen in the statewide data base.
