Summerville Police received a report about a stolen firearm last week.

A responding officer went to a residence on North Washington Street and spoke with the complainant who said a gun that stayed in the glove compartment of his vehicle was missing. The complainant said that he and his wife believe the last time they saw the gun was 2-4 weeks ago.

The missing gun is a Smith & Wesson .38 Special Hammerless Snub-nose.

The complainant supplied a serial number of CZX4610 and said the handgun is black with a pink pistol grip.  The man said that it might be possible the gun had been misplaced, but he wasn’t sure about that.

Police registered the missing weapon with the statewide database and told the complainant that if the gun turned up, he should let police know.
