Habitat for Humanity – Coosa Valley is celebrating a milestone this holiday season as the family in the organization’s 61st home build has officially moved in—just in time for the holidays. Habitat leaders say they’re also preparing to begin work on their 62nd home build at the start of 2026.

Executive Director Betsy Allgood says the dedication of the Freeman home was held in mid-November in North Rome, marking another successful project for the nonprofit. The next phase begins soon, with Habitat set to break ground on the upcoming home on January 10th in South Rome.

Habitat for Humanity – Coosa Valley serves families across Chattooga, Floyd, and Polk counties, and volunteers are needed for the upcoming build and also for smaller repair projects. Those interested in lending a hand can visit habitatcoosavalley.org or stop by the Habitat ReStore on East 1st Avenue to learn how to help.

Donations also play a major role in keeping projects moving—Habitat accepts monetary gifts as well as donated items for the ReStore. For more information, residents can visit the website or call 706-378-0030.

Habitat also says applications for its homeownership program will be available in the new year.
