Residents in the Hair Lake Road area of Chattooga County are reminded to prepare for a two-day full closure of a portion of the road, scheduled for Monday, October 27, 2025, and Tuesday, October 28, 2025. The closure is necessary for county public works crews to complete essential heavy maintenance and repairs.
Chattooga County Commissioner Andy Allen notified residents last week about the upcoming disruption and issued a formal press release on Friday, outlining the details. The affected segment of Hair Lake Road will be between Mahan Road and Beavers Road.
The road will be closed to all traffic beginning Monday morning, October 27, and is expected to reopen by the end of the business day on Tuesday, October 28. This timeline is contingent on favorable weather conditions.
The full closure is required to allow public works crews to perform necessary heavy maintenance that demands complete access to the roadway. Motorists who typically use this route are strongly urged to plan ahead and utilize alternate routes during this two-day period to avoid delays.
“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” Commissioner Allen stated in his press release. “Timely updates will be provided should the repair schedule change.”
For any questions or concerns regarding the road repairs or the closure schedule, residents are directed to contact Tim Brunson, Public Services Superintendent, at 706-767-8350. County officials emphasize the importance of these repairs for the long-term safety and integrity of Hair Lake Road.
