The Rome News Tribune is reporting that the second scheduled day of pretrial hearings in the death penalty cases of Richard Scott Harper and Michelle Reynolds went behind closed doors Tuesday afternoon. Harper and Reynolds are facing murder, aggravated assault and aggravated battery charges in connection with the stabbing death of Reynolds’ husband, Thad Reynolds, on July 5, 2004. Judge Bryant Durham Jr. said he felt the publication of evidence ruled inadmissible could taint the jury pool for Harper’s upcoming trial in September.
