A leader of a subset of the Bloods gang ordered a Lawrenceville, Georgia man’s murder while incarcerated at Hays State Prison in Chattooga County according to the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports, thirty-seven-year-old Gordon Evans was convicted of three counts of felony murder, two counts of criminal street gang activity and one count each of malice murder, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and aggravated battery in connection with the death of Jeffrey Anderson. A jury returned guilty verdicts on all counts August 17 after a two-week trial.

Anderson was found dead in a Lawrenceville home with two gunshot wounds to the back of his head in November of 2015. Soon after, police discovered a threatening text that was sent to Anderson a month before he was killed; that text was sent with a contraband cell phone by Evans, who was incarcerated at Hays State Prison in Summerville, the DA’s office said.

Evans sent two lower level gang members to kill Anderson, the DA’s office said.

Evans was sentenced to life in prison, plus 20 years.
