The affects of Hurricane Helene have caused immense devastation in Western North Carolina, and that has disrupted the supply chain for Ingles Supermarkets across the South, including Ingles in Summerville.

Connie Bethune with Ingles in Summerville told WZQZ News that Ingles company headquarters, warehouse and logistics are all based in Black Mountain, North Carolina and are all under water.  The local supermarket in Summerville had no contact with corporate headquarters because there is no power, internet or phone service.  She says that many of the company’s supply trucks are also under water and there is no definite time frame for when product will be shipped to stores.

In the mean time, the local store in Summerville cannot take credit cards or debit cards and cannot issue gift cards, due to the fact that all of the credit card processing goes through company headquarters in North Carolina.  Cash and checks are all that is being accepted.

Connie says that they are doing the best they can and asks for the public’s patience during this time.
