The National Weather Service has issued a warning citing low relative humidity across the region. Relative humidity levels are expected to remain at or below 25% for at least four hours Monday afternoon and evening, coupled with light and variable winds shifting from east to southeast at 4 to 7 mph.

This combination of dry fuels and low humidity creates a significant risk of wildfires. Even as humidity levels are predicted to increase by Tuesday, the persistence of gusty winds alongside the already dry fuels means we’ll likely see continued elevated fire danger across the area, according to the National Weather Service. Looking ahead, the forecast predicts the possibility of isolated thunderstorms moving through the region late Tuesday into Wednesday ahead of a cold front. Some of these storms could be strong, bringing the potential for gusty winds. Breezy to windy conditions are expected to continue from Tuesday through Thursday.

The detailed forecast includes sunny skies today with a high near 61 degrees. Monday night will be mostly clear with a low around 39. Tuesday will bring partly sunny conditions and a high near 68, with southeast winds intensifying throughout the day and gusts potentially reaching 30 mph. Showers and possible thunderstorms are predicted for Tuesday night, with a low around 52 and strong southeast winds gusting up to 35 mph. Wednesday will be partly sunny with a high near 62 and continued gusty winds.

Residents are advised to avoid outdoor burning and take extra precautions to prevent wildfires during this period. Any outdoor activities that could potentially spark a fire should be carefully considered and closely monitored.
