If you’re a Georgia Power customer, you will see a one-time credit on your March power bill.  That’s because Georgia Power made more money than they expected last year – $297 million more – and the state of Georgia requires the utility company to give back profits over 12%.  But at the same time Georgia Power is reporting record profits, they are going to the state’s public service commission with a request for even more money.  That’s because they say with the rising cost of fuel prices, they need a rate hike to the tune of $2 billion.  This month’s one-time credit will be somewhere between $17 and $23 for most customers.
