Steam Into Summerville Railroad Days continues into November.  The arrival of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum Passenger Train brings visitors from all over to Chattooga County.  This past weekend, the annual Sequoyah Quilt Show saw the arrival of the train on Saturday and Sunday to the historic Summerville Depot.

Nestled in the heart of downtown, adjacent to Dowdy Park, the Summerville Depot stands as a beacon of Southern charm and history. Featured in the acclaimed HBO films “Warm Springs” and “Ma Ma Flora’s Family,” the depot offers a delightful outdoor viewing experience for visitors year-round. The depot is a vibrant center for community festivities, particularly surrounding the arrival of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum (TVRM) Passenger Train each fall.

Railroad enthusiasts and families alike gather to witness the excitement as the train pulls into one of the Southeast’s last remaining functional railroad turntables, providing a unique glimpse into the world of vintage trains.  As the autumn season approaches, the depot transforms into a hub of activity with the annual “Steam Into Summerville Railroad Days.” Kicking off in October, this celebration features a series of festivals every weekend, running through mid-November, showcasing the rich history and culture of the region.

Beyond the depot, the scenic Town Creek Trail connects Summerville’s Dowdy and Willow Spring Parks, inviting families to enjoy nature. This picturesque trail winds alongside Town Creek and features picnic tables and grills, making it an ideal spot for family gatherings and outdoor fun.
