A man being sought in connection with a deadly hit-and-run last month in the Plainville area was booked into the Gordon County Jail this week.

According to jail records, Jeffrey Hughes of Calhoun is charged with felony 1st-degree homicide by vehicle, tampering with evidence, hit and run, duty upon striking a fixed object, and driving without a current license plate.

52-year-old Michael Shane Robbins of Plainville was airlifted to Erlanger with serious injuries on February 5 after his bicycle was struck by what was believed to be a dump truck hauling short logs on Highway 53 at Brownlee Mountain Road.

Robbins died on February 8 from his injuries.
