A homeless man was arrested over the past weekend by a Chattooga County Sheriff’s deputy who saw the man walking in the parking lot of the car wash off Highland Avenue.

The deputy said that when he saw the suspect, he knew that the man had a prior arrest warrant.  The deputy spoke with the man and advised him to place his book bag on the ground and placed him into custody on the active arrest warrant.  The deputy asked the man if he had anything illegal in his book bag.  The man told the deputy he did.

Inside the book bag, the deputy found an eye glasses case with suspected methamphetamine.  The man told the deputies that he planned to sell the meth.

Forty-six-year-old Richard Eugene Milstead was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute.
