Firefighters with the Centre, Cedar Bluff and Leesburg Departments were dispatched to a report of a house fire at 309 Bay Springs Road, at approximately 7:40 Friday morning.

Early reports indicated that two young children may still have been inside the home at the time – it was soon learned that the children and all other family members had managed to get put of the home safely.

The home received moderate smoke and water damage. The fire is believed to have been electrical in nature, however an investigation into the incident continues.

The Cherokee County Sheriff`s Office and Centre Police Department also responded to the scene.
