A Cedartown man reported to police that an empty house he owns in Summerville was broken into recently.

Alan Hamlett reported to the Summerville Police Department that a home he own in Summerville had been broken into sometime in the last two months. Officers met with Hamlett at the residence located on Steven Street where Hamlett lead them to a side window that had been broken. A folding chair was located under the window on the outside of the house. Inside Hamlett showed Officers a water line in the laundry room that had been cut along with several wires near outlets and the fuse box. Additionally plastic buckets had been stacked up to reach the attic where more wires were cut.

Hamlett also stated that several tools were missing which included a ladder and multiple power tools. A path that lead from the house to Hawkins Drive had barbwire strung up, however that wire had been cut as well. Hamlett told Officers that he had owned the house for around 20 years, but did not currently live there. The value of the missing tools and ladder was valued around $2,030. This case is still active.
