A Summerville man recently racked up a long-list of charges including – Fleeing/Attempting to Elude a Police Officer; DUI; Violation of the Open Container Law; Hit and Run; Driving on  a Suspended License; Improper U-Turn; and Possession of Marijuana (less than one ounce).

Additional information has now been released regarding the incident, which began when a law enforcement official on patrol in the Gore area witnessed a man driving at an unusually slow speed and weaving, before making an illegal u-turn.  The officer also executed a u-turn with siren and lights on, however instead of continuing on in the clear lane the driver of the Toyota pickup made a "hard left" – hitting the front of the patrol car with the driver's side of the truck.

The pickup fled for about a mile down Sturdivant Road often traveling on the wrong side or middle of the roadway at that point the driver slammed on the brakes coming to rest across the middle of the road.

The alert officer managed to stop before hitting the truck and immediately got out and with gun drawn, approached the driver's side of the vehicle ordering the man to show his hands, and open the door.

According to the written report, the man started moving his vehicle toward the officer, who managed to get out of the way; the truck went into the yard of a residence where it became  stuck in the mud, and that's when he was pulled from the vehicle and placed in handcuffs. A search of the vehicle turned up among other things, two open containers of beer still cool to the touch and an unsealed glass mason jar containing moonshine.

According to the report, when the officer asked the man if he'd anything to drink today – 33 year old Nicholas Lloyd Trammel of Summerville said (quote) "Just two." (end-quote)
