Icy roads are causing problems around Chattooga County.  Chattooga County EMA Director Eddie Henderson told AM 1180 "People really should stay at home if at all possible."  Highway 48 is a sheet of ice and Alabama officials have closed Highway 117.  Stranded motorist at the state-line stores were trying to call wreckers to pull them out of the ditch, but the wreckers are not allowed on the road because it is closed.

Meanwhile Taylors Ridge was closed down so that it could be salted before traffic was allowed back on Highway 27.  Silver Hill Road is being reported as impassible by local firemen.

If you must go out use extreme caution – but your best bet is to stay at home this evening.
