The National Weather Service Service in Peachtree City, Georgia has extended a Flash Flood Watch until Wednesday afternoon as the remains of Ida move over the Tennessee Valley and into North and Central Georgia today.

Rainfall associated with Tropical Depression Ida will overspread much of north and central Georgia today and into Wednesday. Three to five inches of rain is expected across the flash flood watch area with isolated higher amounts possible. Additional bands of rainfall may cause training of storms through Wednesday that may lead to additional flash flooding concerns.

Periods of heavy rain will be possible in north Georgia early Tuesday morning into Wednesday. Total amounts will average 2 to 4 inches with local amounts near 5 inches possible. A threat for isolated tornadoes will continue into early Wednesday as outer bands move through. Some strong wind gusts with stronger storms are possible as well.
