The 2025 High School Football Season kicked off on Friday night, but it wasn’t the winning start local fans hoped for, as both the Trion Bulldogs and Chattooga Indians fell in their opening week road games.

The Trion Bulldogs traveled to Chickamauga for a highly anticipated matchup against arch-rival Gordon Lee Trojans. The Bulldogs, who faced the challenge of replacing 16 starters from last year’s impressive 10-win team that reached the GHSA Class A Division II state quarterfinals, showed signs of promise early, scoring in the first quarter. However, they were unable to pull off a win against the more seasoned Trojans, ultimately falling by a final score of 23-12.

Meanwhile, the Chattooga Indians faced a tough test in LaFayette against the Ramblers. The Indians struggled to find their offensive rhythm throughout the contest and were unable to score any points. LaFayette secured the victory with a dominant 25-0 shutout.

Both teams will look to bounce back in Week 2. The Trion Bulldogs will have their home opener next Friday, hosting Dade County at Sam R. McCain Stadium. The Chattooga Indians will remain on the road, heading to Dalton to face Coahulla Creek.

Local fans can catch the action next Friday night on WZQZ. The Chattooga vs. Coahulla Creek game will be broadcast live on the radio and streamed on the WZQZ Facebook Page. The Trion vs. Dade County game will be available exclusively on the WZQZ Facebook Page.
