Deputies recently went to a residence on Alabama Highway 68 in DeKalb County to conduct a welfare check on a child only to discover an indoor marijuana plant growing operation.
Deputies immediately secured the area and obtained a search warrant for the home. During that search deputies report finding 13 fully grown marijuana plants, with a combined street value of around $26,000.
They also discovered drug paraphernalia, and guns, including both a sawed off shotgun and a pistol that had altered serial numbers.
Deputies arrested Edward Joseph Sawicki age 37 for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a short barrel rifle/shotgun possession of altered firearm ID.
