Over the weekend, Ingles Supermarket has released a statement about the supply chain issue that is affecting many major retailers at this time.
The supermarket chain, based in Black Mountain, North Carolina operates the local store in Summerville. The company says that they realize the frustration from customers who see empty shelves in the store, and says that issues due to the COVID-19 pandemic and recent snow and ice storms that have affected the East Coast is making keeping the store fully-stocked a challenge.

Ingles said that there have been temporary product shortages with toilet paper, bleach, fresh meat, sanitizing products, canned items, flour, yeast and sports drinks. In a separate Tweet last week, Ingles said that reasons for the shortages are varied.
They say that people are still stockpiling supplies and there have been COVID-related closures of major food manufacturers. Add to that the trucking issues affecting retailers and staffing issues due to COVID-19.
Ingles is asking for the public’s understanding and patience during this time.
