A Summerville woman who was arrested on Broad Street in Rome back in April and has been housed in the Floyd County Jail, is now charged with violence in a penal institution.

According to Floyd County Jail reports, thirty-four-year-old Dominique Makela Adams of Summerville, allegedly kicked an officer on the left leg and scratched another officer. Adams is also accused physically resisting deputies when they attempted to retain her and they say that Adams attempted to grab a taser out of one of the officers’ hands.

Adams was charged back in April after she was accused of “snatching” a $100 bill from a person and attempting to pull a $10,000 diamond necklace off of another person’s neck.

Adams is now charged with felony unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution and two misdemeanor simple battery counts.
