A teenager from Summerville, 18-year-old Elijah Bleu McCool, faces several charges for allegedly attacking and robbing an elderly man.
The charges include aggravated assault, aggravated battery, armed robbery, exploitation and intimidation of an elderly person, and theft. The incident reportedly occurred when McCool entered the victim’s home, locked him inside, and prevented others from entering, as stated by Chattooga County Sheriff Investigator Wendell Flood.
Inside the house, McCool allegedly attacked the victim with brass knuckles and stole his wallet, which had a debit card. Investigators believe the suspect may have been looking for drugs during the assault, according to Sheriff Mark Schrader. Two witnesses observed the attack. Later, McCool was found nearby, covered in blood and claimed he had been assaulted, leading the homeowners to call 911. However, deputies did not find any injuries on him.
The victim, who knows McCool but is not related to him, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is still ongoing.
