Livestock shows are at the heart of any agricultural fair and the Chattooga County Agricultural Fair is no exception. The fair gets underway on Thursday of this week, and kicks off with the 4H & FFA Market Goat Show at 5:30 PM.
Showing a market goat provides an opportunity for goat exhibitors to learn about goats and the meat goat industry, to showcase meat goats and goat products in a competitive event where exhibitors and the general public can observe and learn, and last, but not least gives the ag-student a fun experience.
Students showing goats at this week’s fair have put in countless hours with their animals in preparation for the Market Goat Show. They have committed themselves to hard work and practice with their animals well in advance of the fair. In addition to training and grooming their animals, the ag-students will gain confidence in themselves from the event.
As you enjoy the fair this week, take some time to attend the livestock shows held in the pavilion of the ag building each day, starting with the Market Goat Show on Thursday.
