A correctional sergeant that works at the regional youth detention center that serves several Northwest Georgia counties, including Chattooga County, was arrested this week after he was accused of attacking a handcuffed juvenile.

Warrants taken out in Floyd County say that thirty-two-year-old Naji Cooke of Rome choked the juvenile at the Bob Richards Regional Youth Detention Center on Marable Way in Rome on February 9. The victim was handcuffed at the time of the assault, according to the warrants.

Cooke was booked into the Floyd County Jail on Tuesday and bond was set at $11,200.

The regional detention center serves Bartow, Carroll, Chattooga, Douglas, Floyd, Gordon, Haralson, Paulding, Polk and Walker Counties in Northwest Georgia.
