Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is once again reiterating his promise not to bring back mask mandates in the Peach State.
Late last week, the governor was speaking at a elementary school about his decision not to require masks for school in the state. The governor has been adamite that mask decisions should be made voluntarily and on the local level.
“I don’t believe we need to have a dictatorship in government telling what local school systems need to do, what private businesses need to do, what nonprofits need to do, or what individuals should do,” Kemp said during an appearance at Ball Ground Elementary School in Cherokee County to mark the start of a new school year. “Individuals need to make the best decision they can.”
The governor has been facing pressure from both sides of the mask issue, with pro-mask proponents arguing for a state-wide mandate for masks in schools and anti-mask supporters decrying mask mandates as governmental overreach.
