Governor Brian Kemp signed the Amended Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 this week, with support from key officials and lawmakers. He expressed gratitude to legislative partners, constitutional officers, and his team for their efforts in the budget process.

The budget aims to provide relief for Georgians affected by Hurricane Helene, enhance safety in schools and communities, and return money to taxpayers. It allocates $1 billion for a one-time tax refund for taxpayers facing high prices and inflation. Governor Kemp emphasized the importance of passing enabling legislation to support these measures.

Lt. Governor Burt Jones highlighted that the budget includes vital adjustments for education, economic development, public safety, and over $250 million for agriculture and timber communities impacted by the hurricane. Speaker Jon Burns echoed the commitment to strategic investments while ensuring taxpayers benefit.

Key allocations in the budget include over $867 million for Hurricane Helene relief, $140 million for education, more than $434 million for public safety, $3. 5 million for human trafficking recovery, $50 million for school security, and substantial funds for water and sewer infrastructure improvements. Additional investments also address local road infrastructure and wildfire combat efforts.
