On Tuesday, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, along with First Lady Marty Kemp and other leaders, signed legislation in Cobb County, providing over $1 billion in tax relief for Georgians.

This includes the acceleration of the largest tax cut in state history and a one-time tax refund. Governor Kemp emphasized the importance of returning taxpayer money to the people, contrasting Georgia’s fiscal responsibility with other states facing budget deficits.

Two bills were signed: HB 111, which accelerates the state income tax cut, reducing the tax rate to 5. 19%, and HB 112, which offers one-time refunds up to $500 per household. Lt. Governor Burt Jones highlighted the significance of these tax cuts. The special refund amounts are $500 for joint filers, $250 for single filers, and $375 for heads of household. Governor Kemp also praised the General Assembly for suspending the state gas tax after Hurricane Helene for direct relief.
