A forty-two-year-old Kingston, Georgia man was arrested last week after investigators charged him with stealing power from Georgia Power – something that had been going on for over two years, according to arrest records.

Joshua Winfield Pilcer allegedly connected “an illegal cord” to the main Georgia Power line and ran it to his residence.  In all, Pilcher is accused of stealing over $7,900 worth of power over the two-year period.  That figures up to almost $330 each month.

Georgia Power says, “Stealing electricity is a serious crime that results in a higher cost to produce electricity, which is passed down to customers. Theft of electricity includes, but is not limited to, tampering with connections or meters and establishing service with fraudulent or stolen identities. Energy theft does more than just increase the cost of electricity, tampering with electric meters and wiring can result in serious fires, injury and even death. This poses serious danger to the thief, to their neighbors and to Georgia Power employees.”

Pilcher has been charged with felony theft of services.
