Over the past month 4-H officers were elected in all middle schools in the county. During the first 4-H meetings of the school year students were asked to stand and present a short speech on the qualities that they possess, which would be a benefit to a leadership position. There were many classes which had over 15 young people running for one of the four leadership positions. The classes were asked to vote for 4 students who had the leadership abilities that they thought were most important. The highest number of votes received the President Position, then Vice-President, Secretary and Reporter.

 

Many of the elected officers attended officer training which was held on September 17th from 3:30-5:00 at the Civic Center. A list of all schools 4-H officers for the 2012-2013 school year can be found at:

The officer training was conducted by the Cooperative Extension staff and our County Council 4-H Officers. Training the newly elected secretaries were, County Council Secretary Abraham Carrillo, County Council Service Learning officer Melissa Maynard, and Mekenzie Parker who is a Northwest District Jr. Board Member. Leading the Vice Presidents were Faith Coalson NW District Vice President and County Council’s Sports and Recreation Officer, Tiffany Maynard County Council Health Officer and Tyler Hunt a NW District Jr. Board Member. County Extension Coordinator Rebecca Thomas was in charge of training the Reporters. The Presidents were trained by County Council President Victoria Hall.
