ATLANTA – The Floyd/Gordon Employer Committee will sponsor a seminar on labor laws for businesses in northwest Georgia counties. It will focus on proper procedures for hiring and terminating personnel and other labor laws.
Entitled, “Employment Law Overview and Law Jeopardy,” the seminar is especially designed for business owners, human resource managers, supervisors and entrepreneurs. It will be held Tuesday, April 5, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the R.H. Ledbetter College of Business at Shorter University, located at 232 Shorter Ave. in Rome. Lunch is included in a $25 registration fee.
Tillman Coffey of Atlanta, a partner with Fisher and Phillips Attorneys at Law, will lead the seminar. It will focus on such topics as: hiring, discipline and discharge, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour issues, and the Family Medical and Leave Act (FMLA).
Employer committees are groups of local business representatives who establish and maintain working relationships between employers and GDOL career centers. The Floyd/Gordon Employer Committee works with the Georgia Department of Labor’s Rome Career Center.
