Barwick – LaFayette Airport is a city-owned, public airport in Walker County.  Original construction of the airport was funded by ET Barwick Mills, a major carpet manufacturer of the 1960s and 1970s, which operated facilities in and around LaFayette.  In the years since, the airport has seen an increase in traffic and serves business and industry in the corner of the state. The City of LaFayette has approve a $3.3 million project to resurface and expand the runway at the airport.  $3.15 million of the money will come from the State of Georgia and Federal sources, and the city will kick in $157,500. The City has been working with the Georgia Department of Transportation for about three years on this airport runway project.
