The Lafayette City Council held an Appeal Hearing on Wednesday morning and it was voted to uphold the dismissal of former Recreation Director Patti Scott.  That vote was four to one with Council Member Wayne Swanson casting the lone vote against dismissal.

Scott spoke on her own behalf, saying the city manager never confronted her with concerns regarding her management of the recreation department, adding that the letter of dismissal came as a surprise to her.

She went on to say she was proud of what she accomplished during her 23 year career with the city, adding (quote) "I have always done my job." (end-quote)

City Manager David Hamilton said he holds leaders to a very high standard, and he had lost confidence in Ms. Scott as a department head – adding that his actions in firing her were not disciplinary in nature.
