A fifty-one-year-old LaFayette man has been charged with child molestation in Chattooga County stemming from contact he had with a minor back in 2021.

Authorities say that the victim spoke with a school counselor about the abuse and it was reported to the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.  Ricky Allan Sprayberry was booked into the Chattooga County Jail on Saturday of last week and was charged with child molestation, aggravated child molestation and a probation violation.

This is not Sprayberry’s first run-in with the law.  Back in 2012, Sprayberry was charged with first-degree arson and burglary, along with drug charges, stemming from an incident on Old Justice Road in the Welcome Hill area in Trion.

Sprayberry has been arrested several times in the subsequent years in both Chattooga and Walker Counties.
