A LaFayette man was arrested while driving drunk on Commerce Street in Summerville around 6:30 on Sunday morning.

According to a report from the Summerville Police Department, an officer on patrol saw the driver doing over 50 miles-per-hour in a 35 mile-per-hour speed zone.  When the officer initiated a traffic stop, he suspected that the driver had been drinking.

The driver told the officer that he “had one or two shots”.  Inside the man’s vehicle, the officer found an open bottle of whiskey.

Sixty-one-year-old Terry Lamar Bean of a Reed Road, LaFayette address was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
