A thirty-nine-year-old Walker County man was indicted by the Chattooga County Grand Jury in connection with an incident in February of this year, when he was accused of stealing three Klondike ice cream bars from the Family Dollar store in Summerville.
At the time of his arrest, Mark Wayne Martin of LaFayette had made his way to Jack’s restaurant and had the three ice cream bars in his backpack. Martin reportedly resisted arrest and told a Summerville Police officer that he would “snipe” the officer. Martin was arrested for shoplifting, terroristic threats and acts and giving false information to a police officer, along with obstruction of law enforcement.
The Chattooga County Grand Jury found enough evidence to indict Martin on the charges and stand trial in Chattooga County Superior Court.
