U.S. Vinyl Manufacturing Corp. in LaFayette is temporarily cutting work hours for its employees.

“Due to the continuing economic downturn, U.S. Vinyl has been forced to make the very difficult decision to scale back working hours for all hourly personnel for the next two weeks,” Michael A. Hernandez, vice president, said in a written statement.

“In the recent months we have done everything possible to keep all employees working full schedules,” he said. “Unfortunately, the current level of work will not support a full staff. In order to assist during this difficult time, our HR (human resources) department is in the process of providing the DOL (Department of Labor) with the necessary information to assist our employees in obtaining unemployment benefits, if so qualified.”

U.S. Vinyl, which is on Broomtown Road, produces vinyl wall covering and related products for the hospitality industry.
