The latest in that rash of armed robberies around the area occurred at Steve's Kwik Stop on Saturday afternoon; the store, located just outside the Lafayette City Limits, is at the corner of Broomtown Road at Bronco Road and fortunately no one was injured during the incident

Armed robberies have taken place at the Melanie Inn convenience store on Hawkins Drive, at the Wildlife Lake Food Mart located on Highway 27 on the outskirts of Summerville, and at TJ’s Package Store in Lyerly with one store employee being shot and seriously wounded during the Hawkins Drive hold up and another being beaten in the Wildlife Lake Food Mart robbery.

The Melanie Inn robbery took place January 15th; the Wildlife Lake robbery January 18th – and the TJ’s Liquor Store robbery on the 26th.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with any of those armed robberies.

Lafayette Police Captain Stacey Meeks has informed media outlets, that they have been told that the robbers may be targeting "Indian-owned" convenience stores.

Law enforcement officials continue to "compare notes" on the incidents.
