Although it has been almost 60 years since LaFayette has had regular passenger train service one of the cars that served the area may find a new home in the town. The city of LaFayette has secured a retired “Central of Georgia” passenger car through the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. The city council in LaFayette also accepted the donation of some property near the railroad tracks to house the car. Volunteers plan to build a model train layout inside the passenger car that will depict Lafayette’s railroading past circa 1900.
