An employee with the Walker County Environmental Health Services Office in La Fayette has been arrested and charged with embezzling more than $20,000 from the government agency where she worked.

23 year old Danielle Bradley Brook is accused of stealing the money over the past four years.  An audit is being conducted to see if perhaps more funds are missing from the office. The department where Brook worked was responsible for collecting payments for sewage permits.

Brook is accused of keeping two sets of books at the department and not depositing cash payments into the departments account, instead diverting the funds to herself.

Brooks has been charged with seven felony counts of theft. More charges could be made.
Brooks was under investigation while on her honeymoon. She was arrested July 1, about two weeks after returning.
