Chattooga County residents responded with open hearts and open wallets to the need to our neighbors to the west in Alabama when the tornadoes struck on April 27. Today Chattooga Family Connection will be sending the last collection of items to Hackelburg, Alabama
The items will be leaving Wednesday about 8:45 from Lyerly Town Hall. Along with relief items, Chattooga Family Connection will be sending a check to Hamilton Funeral Home for assistance in the burial of Ed & Teresa Hall, a couple in their 50s who were killed by the storm. They had no life insurance and their daughter was left to pay their burial expenses. FEMA helped most areas, but for some reason Chattooga Family Connection was told that "Hackelburg did not qualify for burial assistance."
