Leadership Chattooga – a program coordinated by the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce – recently took 2021 Class members on a tour of local industry.

The group began the day in Trion at Mount Vernon Mills for a thorough tour of the finishing plant. They then went to Dixie Specialty Fibers for a grand tour before heading south to Lyerly.

In Lyerly, the class visited Smith Ironworks and Try-Con Tufters. They ended the day in Summerville’s Industrial Park, first at Mohawk, then at Vitality Labs.

Chamber Director Cindy Rivers-McGraw said, “It was fabulous to see how things are made and some repurposed. Many in the class were impressed with the technology already here in Chattooga County and the extensive workforce in place to run operations.”
