Another town in the area will soon be voting on the wet / dry issue.  Leesburg, Alabama would be the third town in Cherokee County to allow alcohol sales if voters approve a measure presented by the Leesburg City Council this week.

There were 311 registered voters that voted in the last election and 25 percent of the signatures were needed on the petition in order for the Wet / Dry Referendum to take place. There were a total of 107 of those voters that signed the petition which was approximately 35 percent of voters.

Resolution 2011-01 passed by a 4-1 margin.

The tentative date for the Wet / Dry Referendum has been set for June 14 at Leesburg Town Hall
