Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King announced additional insurance savings for Liberty Mutual and Safeco customers across Georgia following newly approved rate reductions for both companies.

Commissioner King said the latest cuts add to what he described as a growing trend of major insurance savings for Georgia families, pointing to a more competitive marketplace as regulatory and legislative changes take effect.

According to the Office of Commissioner of Insurance (OCI), the following negotiated and approved rate filings include:

  • Safeco Insurance Company of Illinois: -5.1%

  • Safeco Insurance Company of Indiana: -4.9%

  • Liberty Mutual Personal Insurance Company: -5.7%

State officials say the reductions are expected to deliver meaningful savings for drivers and reflect ongoing investment in Georgia’s insurance market, along with expanded competition for consumers shopping for coverage.

Commissioner King also credited collaboration among state leadership and the General Assembly for improving stability, transparency, and affordability statewide. The announcement comes as the Commissioner’s office continues efforts to crack down on insurance fraud and abuse, while early impacts from lawsuit abuse reforms passed during the 2025 legislative session begin to influence market conditions.
