Like a moth to a flame, shoplifters seem to be incredibly attracted to the discount giant – Walmart and in this case the moth caught in the flame was identified on incident reports as a juvenile.

Chattooga County Deputy Mike Howard was recently dispatched to the Walmart located on Highway 27 in response to a report of shoplifting; two Walmart Loss Prevention Associates informed the deputy that a male juvenile had been witnessed in the electronics department taking a Straight Talk cell phone out of the packaging, then slipping it into the pocket of his sweatshirt.

As the juvenile attempted to exit the store though the garden center, he was confronted by the two Walmart employees and detained until law enforcement could arrive on the scene.

According to store personnel the same young man had been the subject of an investigation initiated several days before, due a similar shoplifting incident.

The items taken at that time have not been recovered, however the cell phone was found in the juvenile’s pocket.

The subject was eventually released to the custody of his mother – which may have seemed to him considerably worse than being behind bars.
