Chattooga County is known worldwide for folk artist Rev. Howard Finster. His art is featured in art museums and is sought after by art collectors all over the world. However there are many artist still producing phenomenal works of art here in our community.Several of those artists have some of their work displayed in downtown Summerville. Atteka Abdou, who is the Adjunct Professor of Art at Shorter University and a Chattooga County resident, told AM 1180 that some of her artwork along with photography by Jenni Murphy, handmade jewelry by Linda Espy, folk art by June Maxey, pottery by Fran Myers and woodcarving by Jim Marbutt is on display in the windows at the old Brass Lantern Location and the old Peyton Pharmacy building on Commerce Street in Summerville.AM 1180 will have an upcoming Newsmakers Interview with Atteka Abdou and Linda Espy about the art community and the current art display in the upcoming days.
