Summerville Police were called to a State Street address to witness damage to a field gate. 

Summerville Attorney Arch Farrar showed the responding officer the damage to the gate which is located near the intersection of State Street and Selman Avenue.  According to police, the gate was in place to prevent access to a private field road.

It appeared that someone had hooked a chain to the gate and pulled it towards the roadway until the gate-post broke.  The officer also said that it appeared that the vehicle had then backed up over the gate.

The incident is being investigated by the Summerville Police Department.
