A local Eagle Scout donated his time to help the Chattooga River Group (CRG) get ready for the Chattooga Riverfest that is coming up next month.

Parker Powell working on his Eagle Scout project partnered with the Town of Trion and the Chattooga River Group to build and install a kiosk at the Trion launch area. The kiosk will be used as an information center for kayakers and other recreational visitors to access safety notices about using the river. Event postings and pertinent information on how to enjoy the river and keep it clean and protected will be featured here.

Future kiosks will be planned for other areas along the Chattooga River in the county and will include partnerships with the CRG, municipalities, and organizations.

Chattooga Riverfest is an annual event sponsored by the CRG and the location for each year’s event rotates between Lyerly, Summerville and Trion.  This year’s event will be held in Trion on June 10.
