A routine traffic stop on Highway 27 on June 21, 2025, led to the arrest of Jeffery Wade Greene, 53, on multiple charges including DUI, failure to maintain lane, having an open container of alcohol, and obstruction of officers. His passenger, Koby Chandler Bunner, 24, was also arrested and charged with obstruction of officers.

According to the arrest report released this week by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when a deputy observed a black Jeep Wrangler weaving over the center line while traveling north on Highway 27 near Tractor Supply. After observing the vehicle weave a second time, the deputy initiated a traffic stop. The situation escalated when, after pulling the vehicle over, the deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol and observed that Greene had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Greene allegedly refused to exit the vehicle, becoming argumentative and cursing loudly. Following Greene’s refusal to cooperate, officers removed him from the vehicle and placed him under arrest.

Bunner allegedly interfered, advising Greene not to exit the vehicle, and resisted arrest when deputies attempted to take him into custody.

During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered an open container of Busch Light beer behind the driver’s seat, as well as two coolers containing ice, Busch Light beer, and an unopened bottle of Bootlegger Apple wine in the back seat. Greene was transported to EMS Station 12 for a blood draw, where he initially resisted but ultimately complied. He was then transported to the Chattooga County Jail. Bunner was also transported to the jail. In addition to the DUI and other traffic-related charges, Greene was charged with misdemeanor obstruction. Bunner was charged with two counts of misdemeanor obstruction: one for advising Greene not to exit the vehicle and one for resisting arrest.
